Qualification Standards Changing - Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at 00:00

NFPA has released a new edition of the Standard 1006, "Standards for Technical Rescuers, Professional Qualifications". US-HERO is working with subject matter experts with TEEX/Urban Search & Rescue to update our specific training program to reflect these new standards. Until the new training program is finalized and announced, all US-HERO members should train to the existing training and qualification requirements. These may be accessed in the "Member's Section" of the US-HERO website.

We will be addressing these new training and qualification requirements for both new members and existing members who already hold qualifications under the existing standard.

Finally, we are working diligently with subject matter experts and TEEX and with CENTEX SAR to arrive at acceptable standards of qualification for Canine skills. In the interim, Canine Handlers in US-HERO should work off of the training requirements from CENTEX SAR.
