Help Wanted

US-HERO has a need for people both at the unit levels and at our headquarters. Following are some of the roles we need to fill with dedicated, enthusiatic professionals whoare willing to volunteer with us.

Headquarters Positions

Educational Program Director

US-HERO is currently in need of someone with experience in Instructional Systems Design and Adult/Technical Education to head up our "Southwestern Emergency Services Academy" (SWESA).

This position is primarily responsible for managing the development of instructor led and web-based curriculum, which is focused on emergency services.

Duties include:
  • Ensuring courses are developed and validated in accordance with Instructional System Design principles.
  • Coordinating with subject area experts in the development and execution of training.
  • Interfacing with other emergency services training organizations; local, state, federal and private.
  • Reports to the Chief's Office of US-HERO.
  • Must be able to attend Executive Meetings in Austin, TX twice per month. This is not a virtual opportunity.
Skills:
  • Degree or experience in adult education
  • Certification as a military or emergency services trainer is beneficial, but not required
  • Understanding of Instructional Systems Design
  • Ability to use word processing, publication and presentation software

Logistics Manager

US-HERO is looking for a person to assume the role as our Logistics Coordinator. This role involves:
  • Asset management for all US-HERO units
  • Developing processes and procedures to manage assets
  • Coordinating logistics during large scale emergencies for the organization (Hurricane Katrina, for example)
  • Reports to the Chief's Office of US-HERO.
  • Person must be able to attend Executive Meetings in Austin, TX twice per month. This is not a virtual opportunity.
Skills:
  • Experience in logistics or supplies
  • Inventory management
  • Ability to use computer systems and databases

Field Positions

Unit Captains

US-HERO is a rapidly growing volunteer, emergency services organization and as such, we are looking for enthusiastic, self-starters, with a desire to serve their community, state and nation in starting and leading US-HERO units. US-HERO is a multi-discipline, emergency service organization. Our focus areas are:
  • Search & Rescue
  • Disaster Relief
  • Community Service

All US-HERO units follow common, NIMS compliant standards of training and operations, uniforms and respond to local, state and federal agency requests.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience in Emergency Services, such as Civil Air Patrol, NASAR, ESAR, Fire Department, etc.
  • Qualifications, any of the following:
    • Civil Air Patrol, GTL or higher
    • NASAR SAR Tech II or higher
    • NFPA SAR Technician or Firefighter
    • Military SAR
